Blue World Counseling
Frequently asked questions.
What is Blue World Counseling and who do you serve?
Blue World Counseling offers virtual support to expats and globally mobile individuals dealing with adjustment, transitions and mental health needs.
Why expat therapy?
At Blue World Counseling, we recognize that where you live impacts how you see yourself and how connected you feel. Living away from familiar environments can shape your identity in powerful ways and make it harder to feel grounded. Expat-focused therapy creates space to explore those layers. It can help you make sense of your inner world while navigating unfamiliar outer ones and supports you in feeling grounded, even when life feels unrooted.
What are your areas of specialization?
I work with a wide range of concerns, including:
-
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Life Transitions
- Relationship Issues (including Long Distant Relationships and Breakup Recovery)
- Cultural adjustment
- Identity shifts
- Self Esteem
Where are you licensed to provide therapy?
I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Massachusetts. In Germany, I’m authorized to provide psychotherapy as a Heilpraktikerin für Psychotherapie, approved by the public health office in Frankfurt.
Do you accept insurance?
If you are using out-of-network benefits, we have partnered with Mentaya, a service that helps streamline the reimbursement process. They make it easier to submit claims and get reimbursed for therapy sessions through your insurance. (Click here to get to the screen with the widget)
What are your fees?
Our standard fee is $150 USD for a 50-minute individual or couples session.
Do you offer any discounts or packages?
Yes. For clients paying privately (not using insurance), I offer a 5-session prepaid package for $600, which includes a 20% discount. This option is completely optional and is designed to make therapy more accessible and consistent. Sessions can be used over time at a pace that works for you.
Is our work together confidential?
Yes. Everything you share in therapy is kept confidential, with rare exceptions related to safety or legal obligations (which I’ll review with you before we begin). I use a secure HIPAA-compliant video platform to protect your privacy.
What if I’ve never tried therapy before?
Many of my clients are new to therapy. We will guide you through the process gently and respectfully. You don’t need to have the “right” words, just a willingness to show up and explore.
What approaches or therapy methods do you use?
We use evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailored to your unique needs. These include cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), along with integrative methods such as narrative therapy, guided discovery, and somatic techniques. The approach we take will depend on your goals, preferences, and where you are in your process.
